DME Award 2010 now open for entries!

Monday, July 19th 2010. The only award dedicated to the management of design, the DME Award, is now open for its fourth edition. Previous winners of the DME Award including Virgin Atlantic, NHS, Festo, Decathlon, Senz Umbrellas, Roca and EDF all represent highly innovative organisations where design plays an integral part of their operation. This year the award will be located in Lisbon and represents a new era of the DME Award.

12,5 million for new Service Innovation & ICT programme

Monday, March 1st  2010.  On Wednesday 17-02-’10  the new programme for Service Innovation & ICT (SII) was launched by minister Maria van der Hoeven (Economic Affairs) at the Dialogues House in Amsterdam. The main goal of this innovation programme is to turn the Netherlands into thé European knowledge-centre for smart information- and media services and for the Netherlands to become the European knowledge-centre for financial logistics.

Creative Industry workshop successful

February 8, 2010. European Design Centre in cooperation with European Commission’s Enterprise & Industry Directorate-General, the City of Amsterdam, the Association of Dutch Designers and IIP Create organized the workshop “Towards a Pan-European initiative in support of creative industries in Europe” on 4 and 5 February 2010. The subject of the workshop was the growing economic importance of creative industries for growth and innovation and how to create the most favorable environment for the further development of those industries. The outcomes are summarized in The Amsterdam Declaration which can be downloaded here.

DME Award 2010

January 29, 2010. EDC has been elected Secretary of the newly established N-DME consortium. This organization follows the work of the DME partnership, assembled under the ADMIRE project and responsible for the organization of the DME Award.  After the DME Award 2009 edition in Eindhoven, EDC, together with the N-DME partnership is already working on the next edition, which will be hosted by Lisbon in 2010. Keep an eye on the DME website for upcoming announcements and call for entries.

All4you IT is developing web based software solutions for logistics, cloud computing, network security, remote back-up, content management and collaborative working. All4you is hosting and developing various websites for EDC and its spin offs.

Service Design and Innovation Conference

The Nordic Conference on Service Design and Service Innovation, ServDes, is the premier research conference to bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss, share and evolve the emerging discipline of service design, and design-related service innovation.

The 2010 conference will be held in Linköping, Sweden and the theme for ServDes.2010 is ExChanging Knowledge. Changing Knowledge is about investigating the fundamentals in service design and challenging the knowledge inherited from the disciplines from which service design has grown. Exchanging Knowledge refers both to integrating knowledge from other fields & the ongoing conversation between conference participants with their various roles; consultants, students, in-house, clients and academics. The scientific programme will be composed of papers that have been peer-reviewed in a double-blind review process.
